Town Center and Cumberland, GA are creating a regional program through a phased approach. These two communities have started off with separate but connecting systems and are working together through the pilot year to expand to a unified regional program as additional communities and funding come together.
In coordination with the Tandem Mobility launch project calendar, Town Center and Cumberland executed a joint marketing campaign to emphasize the collaborative launch date, shared press release, and cross-channel social media promotion.
having these communities be truly connected with the same overarching program with a unified name, branding, pricing plan, system design, and app experience. This collaboration includes
Structure: Collaboration between Town Center and Cumberland Community Improvement Districts.
Regional stats: This is the first CID-sponsored bike share program in Georgia, with a combined total of 15 stations and 75 bikes between the two communities.
Pros: Separate but connected programs provide an avenue for expedited regional collaboration with no extra administrative or structural considerations. Each community maintains ownership of their unique brand and all of their specific system data. Communities working together on the project helps create regional momentum and community buy-in with many stakeholders involved in the collective success of each others' programs. Working together on the bike share project opens doors to other potential collaborations as well!
Cons: As more communities (with their unique branding) come on board, there could be potential for rider confusion or at least the potential for riders to not fully understand how they can utilize all the programs in the region under a single rider membership, for example. Additional marketing efforts would be important.
is a great example of the inter-community collaboration.
