Good to Know
Fees are incurred anytime a rental is initiated where there is a fee for the trip and/or hold is placed on a credit card.
When a rental is completed, the appropriate rental charges are captured and the remainder of the credit card hold is released back to the rider
In the event our customer support team determines that a rider is eligible for a refund, that trip's associated credit card processing fees are still charged to your account even though the rider did not incur any trip fees.
All gross revenue from that day's rentals are distributed to your financial institution on a daily basis (less the Movatic/Stripe processing fees)
When there are more refunds than revenue in a day, that will result in a payment back to Movatic to cover the transaction fees (this is rare, but could be encountered when system ridership is very low, and when most trips are zero revenue trips such as when a ride is ended within the grace period or free period)
Mechanic rentals are set up so that they don't trigger a credit card hold and thus aren't resulting in processing fees
Your Stripe account is set up, by default, to do batch deposits to your bank account on a daily basis. This cadence may be changed to weekly or even monthly deposits to avoid the rare scenario described above. That is, you would accrue a balance in Stripe over your preferred time period and your "negative balance" days would be balanced out by the positive revenue days, resulting in a positive deposit of funds to your account and avoiding any potential payment obligation back to Movatic.
Tandem vs Zagster revenue reconciliation
Zagster charged 7% flat fee on the net revenues, with cities receiving 93% of net revenue after all fees were deducted.
With Tandem programs, Cities are receiving 91% of gross revenue. A better deal for cities.
